This year, our church, Christ Community Church, hosted the annual Trunk or Treat celebration! I have never been to one, but I was excited to decorate our women’s small group trunks for the kids.
This year, (the 3rd year in a row) I went as an egg! My fiance went as bacon. Yes!
I simply added white tights, a white long sleeved shirt and cut out a little eggshell felt hat. You can get felt for about.25 cents a sheet at Hobby Lobby.
Anyway, our women’s group looked for some Halloween inspiration from Pinterest. We found this adorable activity for little ones and I decided to create my own Poke a Pumnpkin board.
I’ve taken a few ideas from Pinterest and most of them have worked. However, to my surprise, this board was extremely easy and cost effective to put together.
I purchased the board from Hobby Lobby (Don’t forget your 40% off coupon!) and I had some left over Orange Cups from my 90’s theme party that I hosted a month ago.
I superglued the cups into the shape of a pumpkin, cut out a stem and a leaf and I used my Cricut to cut out the letters (Country Life Cartridge).

Next, we decided to add a Ball Toss game and a Fishing activity in the other trunk, our Pastor’s wife’s minivan. So, we became the “County Fair” or Fall Fest themed trunks and what better way to communicate that then to create a banner with my Cricut! Again, I used my Country Life cartridge and some of my orange cardstock paired with cardstock that I felt was a little country chic.
I cut out letters using cardboard cardstock (very heavy and sometimes has trouble sticking to the cutting mat) and added some colorful buttons. A basic burlap twine was used to string all the flags together. One tip with banner making is to make sure that you loop the string around the holes on the banner flags so that you don’t have flags that slide around.

What an amazing night we had! So much good, safe fun for the kids and we had such a great time celebrating with our church family! You could easily do this for an elementary school party or even a baby shower! (Pacifier Poke anyone?)
